Week 18 – Pope Benedict XVI’s Address on Humanae Vitae

“The teaching expressed by the Encyclical Humanae Vitae is not easy. Yet it conforms with the fundamental structure through which life has always been transmitted since the world’s creation, with respect for nature and in conformity with its needs. Concern for human life and safeguarding the person’s dignity require us not to leave anything untried so that all may be involved in the genuine truth of responsible conjugal love in full adherence to the law engraved on the heart of every person.”  This embedded link will take you to the original Humanae Vitae encyclical – look particularly at paragraphs 14-17.  Also, since this is Marriage Sunday, you may want to have a look at paragraphs 8 and 9. Week 14 – Homily of the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus – Pope Benedict XVI 2010

“The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit come down among human people and reveal to us their love that saves. If it is the Angels who bring the shepherds the announcement of the Saviour’s birth, and the star that conveys it to the Magi who came from the East, now it is the Father’s voice that indicates the presence of his Son in the world to human beings and invites them to look to the Resurrection, to Christ’s victory over sin and death.” View Article > Week 14 – Homily of the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus

Week 13 – Seeing People through the Eyes of Christ – A Powerful Youtube video

This link isn’t a reading this week – it’s a video – and well worth watching.  It makes you think twice when you pass by someone on the street. “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36 View Article > Week 13 – Seeing People through the Eyes of Christ
